Dr. Lena Seuss?

Hi everyone. Thanks for all those who have come to the blog to check out the pics from cuba and reading about our adventures. Writing and photography, like all arts are so much more interactive when you can share them. I am still waiting to start the next playwriting unit with fu-Gen come late summer or fall? In the meantime, I am putting my writing to other use for the program that I work for at Sick Kids that works with kids with reading problems. I usually contract myself out to do psychological and intelligence testing for them, but another opportunity has come up where I am getting to write some stories that will be published in a reading manual for this very program. Ultimately, I think they will market the whole thing internationally. What that means for my writing is that I get to be a little kid again! I'm trying to think with the mind of a child and engage them with stories that are written with the vocabulary and sounds that they are being taught. The challenge is that there are limited words to work with and each lesson is controlled so I can't write words starting with the letter B until the B sound is introduced many weeks into it. But, i have been able to have some fun with it, making fantasy and childhood a constant preoccupation in my mind. Most stories sound a bit like Dr. Seuss, but hey that's what kids like and believe me, it isn't as easy as it sounds. I wish I could post one, but b/c of publishing issues, I can't. Too bad. But the important thing is I'm getting to write and do something different for a while which is how I like my life...constantly new and changing!

adieu
