this ain't no wok with yan

i'm not sure why but i feel compelled to write about this man. it's not just because i find it fascinating that Susur Lee is the most famous chef in Toronto and that he's the bomb for actually drawing a tie with Bobby Flay on Iron Chef, but as a person, he's such a huge success story. i had the pleasure of dining at his bistro style restaurant Lee on the weekend, thanks to the lovely generosity of dean's aunt and uncle...actually, as part of pre-payment for a painting that i am actively imagining in my brain for them. needless to say, i thoroughly enjoyed the experience and find that despite his amazing success, Susur manages to be so incredibly humble, approachable and accessible to his many fans. food was beautifully presented, imaginative, playful and well worth the money. makes me proud to be a Lee. but in all honesty, i just wanted to catch of glimps of him tossing his deliciously long ponytail.

A wonderful success story. A man from meager beginings!
