chickidee chick chick it out...

here's my completed piece; the final step from the technical execise seen in previous posts below. i'm so encouraged by the presence of cute birdies everywhere i go. it seems i see them everywhere...on t-shirts, plates, earrings, everywhere. i certainly didn't intend to feed some massive trend with it, but it happened to unfold that way. and just when i think i'm getting too cute with my art, i feel like i'm given permission to be. who cares if the art world accepts it. i'm experimenting and it's all good. anyway, i present this on thursday. it's a piece entitled Bird Nest Soup, made from wax cast from a plaster mould, then covered with crushed egg shells. i'm presenting them in chinese ceramic bowls, with a nest of dried egg noodle. let's just say it's my homage to chinese new year, my heritage and a bit of a tongue in cheek jest at my people's love of bizarre unexplainable food.
